Salon VIII: Visualizing Spiritual Enlightenment in Art

Date: November 20th, 2011, 3 pm to 5.30 pm

The spiritual enlightenment in its different religious and profane manifestations has a long history in both the Chinese and the European thinking. But there are decisive differences between the two cultures concerning the visual depiction of this mental process. In this event, we discuss enlightenment as it is conveyed in different artistic portrayals as well as its relevance for the Chinese and European cultures.
